When you've exhausted that challenge, try fitting them into other regular
shapes - you really do have an open ended problem then.

The nine shapes here are each made up of six equilateral triangles. Being
coloured on both sides, they can be fitted into the frame in a surprising
number of ways, but finding just one can take some time!
This is an ideal present for a child who has outgrown conventional jigsaws
or for adults to 'nibble' at over coffee.

In 1852 Francis Guthrie posed his brother a mathematical problem: to prove
that every flat map could be printed using only four colours with no countries
of the same colour sharing a boundary. It took 125 years to prove that this
'Mapping Theory' was invariably true.
These pieces will fit into the frame in hundreds of different ways, but only
a few of them satisfy the theory.
